Although we have been at 236 East Pender since May, when IOU opened, last Friday was when we finally got to show off the newly-completed gallery, and the new floors and paint and lights in the rest of the building. Call it our grand opening; coinciding with SWARM, and of course the opening of God Save The Queen, this was an opportunity to celebrate the Pitt’s resurgence with music, dancing, and people — a lot of people.
Thanks to our DJs: Corry Wyngaarden, Collin Feigle, and DJ Stuffed Shirt in the downstairs “chill room”, and upstairs dance sets by Fiona Bowie, Eli Bornowsky, and an unexpected last-minute appearance by Skookum Sound System. Thanks to all of them, and to our many volunteers, and to 221A, our joint-venture partner in the 236 project. Thanks also to all of you for coming out!
Watch for more announcements: we have a lot more planned this year. In the meantime, thanks again for being part of a really great launch.
