leannej & my name is scot continue to read back to the city

Last year’s Rereading The Riot Act series produced some great work, including performances at The Waldorf on the night of the Stanley Cup Riot. The program that night included a film by my name is scot and a performance by leannej that was later adapted as a book, published last summer.

These two artists have continued to “read back to the city” in their other work, including the film Calculating 63, which will be presented at SFU Burnaby on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 7. Details are here, on this Facebook event page — the screening and talk at the campus on Burnaby Mountain will be in room AQ6229 from 2:30 pm until 5. Scot will also discuss the Evergreen project, which commemorated the women who were, and still are, victims of violence in the DTES.
