Submissions

The Helen Pitt Gallery invites submissions of exhibition proposals on an ongoing basis. A committee of members and board reviews submissions twice a year, usually in the spring and fall. The gallery programs 2 years in advance.

Documentation in any media is accepted though 10–15 images on CD ROM or DVD videotape is preferred. Do not send originals. Documentation should be accompanied by a CV and a brief artist's statement and must include a stamped, self–addressed envelope for the material's return. Preference will be given to local emerging artists whose work falls outside of the commercial art mainstream.

Proposals for group exhibitions are accepted but artists are encouraged to submit their own work as the gallery usually curates group exhibits. Video and media artists will be responsible for all equipment if their proposal is accepted.

The Pitt exhibits work in all media that relates to the objectives of our mandate (see society info).

Exhibitions generally run for four weeks and CAR/FAC fees are paid to all artists.

Call for Submissions:
-- Helen Pitt Gallery Web Projects
In conjunction with the Helen Pitt Gallery’s mandate to provide diverse exhibition opportunities, we are putting out a call for submissions for web-based projects. This new pilot project involves the addition of a new section to our web site—www.helenpittgallery.org—dedicated to short-term Web projects. The projects will run 4–5 weeks, in conjunction with our “real” world exhibitions. We aim to have the HPG Web Projects as part of our regular programming that continues our commitment to providing artists with the space to create experimental, contemporary art that addresses social, political, cultural, and critical issues.

To submit, please send a brief description of the proposed project including the type and degree of technical assistance required (we are able to provide limited technical assistance); links to completed and in-process web projects and/or related work, CV, and artist statement to pittg@telus.net. Alternately, send images on hardcopy, disc or DVD to:
